Welcome to Mill Valley, quite possibly Marin’s most famous city. The public schools are some of the best and include Tam High, Mill Valley Middle, Edna Maguire, Old Mill, Strawberry Point, Park, and Tam Valley Elementary. If you prefer private schools, you can choose between Marin Horizon or Greenwood. This ideal community includes a town square, numerous restaurants, boutiques, a movie theatre, a famous music hall, and multiple linked steps and trails.
This community has a variety of upscale shops. Make sure to check out The Depot Bookstore, housed in a train depot that started running trains back in 1889, and Mill Valley Market, which has been around since 1929 and is still family owned. Mill Valley has been able to maintain its small-town vibe while offering big-time services, including two Whole Foods Markets, a fantastic public library, community center, access to Mt. Tamalpais, hiking, biking, and multiple beaches. On your visit, try The Depot for breakfast or lunch; for dinner, try El Paseo (sit at the bar for a more casual experience-limited seating), Playa, Bungalow 44, or Beerworks. Also, don’t miss Two Neat for birthday cards and a laugh, Equator Coffee, and Illumigarden for curiosity. For surfing and skating, pop by Proof Lab. Places to stay include Acqua Hotel or Mill Valley Inn. Home prices range from $700,000 for a condo/townhome to $10,000,000 for a luxury single-family home.
