San Rafael is one of the largest towns in Marin, centrally located and culturally diverse. It’s where much of the county’s business gets done and is home to a variety of unique neighborhoods. There are several blocks of shops and restaurants along fourth street corridor, which is the heart of the town. Hand’s down, San Rafael is home to the two best Farmer’s Markets in Marin. Every Sunday meet at the Civic Center from 8:00am-1:00pm or try the Downtown Farmer’s Market May through September 6th from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Both markets have live music, kid entertainment, incredible fruits, veggies and crafts from local artisans. Home to one of Marin’s most well known private schools, Marin Academy, San Rafael public schools include; elementary- Bahia Vista, Coleman, Glenwood, Laurel Dell, San Pedro, Short and Sun Valley, K-8-Venetia Valley, middle- Davidson and high schools: Madrone High, Terra Linda High and San Rafael High. The small towns within San Rafael are as diverse as the community and single-home prices range from $700,000 to $5,000,000. There are homes to fit most budgets and taste, from modest condos to multi-million dollar estate properties, it can take some time to really get to know San Rafael~it’s time well spent and there really is something for everyone.
